The next generation of battery chargers is finally here. The Xantrex Battery Charger range provides the ultimate in battery charger technology, all in an convenient, and cost effective package. Designed with reliability in mind, the charger has been subjected to intense stress testing in its development stages to provide a platform that will work under even the most demanding conditions. As part of the design process, the Xantrex BC included a number of unique features. One such of these is a unique drip proof design that prevents water form damaging the charger by forcing the moisture away from components that can be easily damaged. This feature was mandatory considering that the primary market for the Xantrex BC is the marine environment.
The Xantrex BC can safely and easily be mounted in boat engine rooms, providing IP32 environmental enclosures, Ignition protection and most importantly complying with interference regulations to eliminate interference with other electronics – the new European CE requirements & e-marks are also guidelines strictly met. Easily mounted in either horizontal or vertical orientation allows for installation in virtually any location, while the battery terminal connection points are easily accessed and connection is secure with 6mm bolt posts.
While it is certain that the Xantrex BC is the ultimate charger for boats, it can also be easily adapted for any other industry be it commercial, RV & any mobile application where multiple battery charging is required.
Another key feature of the Xantrex BC is the simplicity of its new charging algorithms, or Multi-plex charging. Multi-plex charging allows the single charger to address multiple tasks seemingly at the same time, such as providing Bulk charge to one bank of batteries, Absorption to another, and float in the third. To make this system more exciting, each battery bank can be totally separate battery types (e.g. bank 1 is Gel, Bank 2 is AGM and Bank 3 is Calcium) – even better is that each bank can have their own temperature sensor included. For more info on Multiplex, refer back to our charger info section for a more in-depth look.
The release of the Xantrex BC has allowed versatility in utilising the correct battery type for the correct application, eventuating in longer battery life and a much greater understanding of the term “Professional Charger”. The Xantrex BC makes a sometime complex issue into a no-nonsense, simply and cost effective solution.
Options Available
Remote mounted remote control and monitoring panel that helps to show exactly what ‘phase’ of multi-plexing the charger is in. helps the user see which battery bank is most in need of charge, and helps to keep an eye on the three battery bank voltages.
Individual Temp sensors.
Included standard in the Xantrex BC is one temp sensor, but an extra 2 can be easily added for the perfect charging system. with no temp sensors included, the charger always assumes ambient temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius. The use of individual temp sensors ensure perfect charging at all times.
Battery Monitor Shunt.
Just like a battery monitor, the Xantrex BC with the external shunt can provide amp-hours consumed information on the remote control panel. This info can help to more easily determine when the Xantrex BC should be powered up.
